Skuta Table

Built from oak and elm — steady in form, shaped by time.

Description:
Skuta Table takes its name from the old Norse word for a small boat — a nod to resilience and craftsmanship. Its design was inspired by a childhood memory of watching a ship’s mast rebuilt against the odds, a scene of determination that shaped its character.

The structure draws from the boat‑building traditions of the Northeast and the Viking legacy that shaped these shores: strong, purposeful, and built to last. The frame is crafted from American white oak, supporting a wych elm top that carries its own story.

The elm’s grain twists and moves freely, and the table was shaped to follow that natural flow rather than fight it. What began as a fragile piece of timber became something enduring, held steady by careful joinery and balance.

Every curve, joint, and surface was considered — not to chase perfection, but to let the wood’s character guide the form. The result is a table that feels grounded and alive, built to gather people and moments over time, in any space that values thoughtful design.
